Fort Worth's , PhD, DSc, has received his second Fulbright Specialist Award from the U.S. Department
of State to teach and engage in collaborative research at in Budapest, Hungary. Prokai received this prestigious recognition based on his academic
and professional achievement and demonstrated leadership in chemistry education.
This second award allows Prokai to continue the work he began at Semmelweis University during his first Fulbright trip in 2023, but this time with a broadened scope. He will spend six weeks teaching a didactic course entitled 鈥淐hemistry to Medicine: Innovative Teaching of Drug Discovery鈥 in the university鈥檚 PhD program. During his time in Budapest, Prokai will also participate in established research collaborations and explore opportunities to foster new ones.
Prokai is one of more than 400 U.S. citizens selected this year for the , the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government. The program sends highly qualified American academics and professionals to share their expertise and strengthen connections with institutions overseas while addressing shared challenges for the benefit of communities all over the world.
鈥淚 feel honored, and I am grateful to the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board for giving me the award and the opportunity to share my knowledge with researchers in Hungary for the second time,鈥 Prokai said.
Prokai is The Robert A. Welch Chair in Biochemistry and Professor of Pharmacology and Neuroscience at 夜色视频 Health鈥檚 College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences and an expert in discovery and preclinical development of new therapies against neurodegenerative and ophthalmic diseases as well as mass spectrometry and proteomics.
